Default Request for Anet Policy Statement

I'm not the type to make suggestion threads, I think this is only my second. However, this most recent update made me want to know more from Anet about what they plan to do. It would be great if there was some form of "official policy" from Anet regarding things that are broken, for example items. It didn't really bother me when the +5 energy swords were taken out of Henge of Denravi, but why weren't they all removed? As for people who say Anet only recently developed the technology to change people's items, can anybody say, "Dual Wrapping Axes?"

What I'm trying to say:
I'd like for Anet to release some sort of official policy on broken/overpowered/just plain weird items. Is Anet going to leave them in game and just remove the means of acquiring them (a la HoD swords, axes, etc), or are they all going to be replaced with appropriate versions, such as Rockmolder? In the past, we all assumed they would let whatever mistakes they made just continue to float around, since that's what they've always done. An official statement would be greatly appreciated by all those who buy and sell rare items. I don't know for certain, but I'd imagine people with the unconditonal damage bonus weapons might be just a bit nervous that you plan to nerf them. That is all. An official statement of, "Yes, don't pay anything for stuff that is broken," or, "No, we don't plan on removing ALL of our mistakes in the future." Thank you for your time.

Theres only been 1 real change in the way they deal with this.

At the start they just changed the collectors and such like that - causing existing ones to become rare. Then at some unknown point they changed their style to removing these oddities. EVERYTHING that was "odd" or "overpowered" thats come out after this point has simply been removed.

Think about it...all the "cool rare" stuff that was removed but still exists is all really old. Anything thats recent was just flat removed (like double grip axe).

They are slowly fixing old items too...So I wouldn't buy them either. How fast they'll fix them and make PvP to a point where you dont need PvE items is not known - But this is a published goal of theirs.

I can see why they don't share that kind of information with us. I mean, if they let is slip that a certain item would no longer be attainable after a certain patch, people would farm it like crazy and hold on to it, then sell it at inflated prices when the patch hits.

As well, if they announced that they will be retroactively nerfing an item within our inventories, people would scramble to sell it to suckers who haven't heard the news before the patch hits.

Sometimes people lose money because they failed to make such announcements. But all in all, I think they have to keep silent or risk sly people taking advantage.

I'll be surprised if you get any real response to this, as they'll be held to it no doubt.

From the "blurb/policy/statement" point of view, they have their licensing/eula/roc on their site and probably in the manual somewhere. If it's like almost every other software policy it will basically boil down to this "It's ours, you're paying for the priveledge to use it, we can do whatever the hell we want, including if something's broken. Tough luck."

As you can see, I'm not a fan of that mentality but it's rife in the industry. You'd never see car manufacturers get away with that, nobody would stand for it.
